Life's a Beach.

Evan has been officially crawling for about a week now and is climbing on EVERYTHING! Needless to say, I haven't had much time to write. I have been taking some pictures though:

He's also eating like a real person now. He eats breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a bottle when he wakes up, as an afternoon snack and a bottle before bed. Just last week I started giving him the cheese puffs from Gerber. He seems to like them, but is uncertain of the texture. Since he liked those, I thought he might like the cinnamon flavored ones......
He doesn't like those!

After the sky cleared up yesterday we decided to go to Elm Creek Beach before it got too hot. Evan loves the water, he's like a fish!

I also got took a few videos of my little fish:

The shark wouldn't cooperate, so Evan tried to bite him.

The water only slowed him down a little bit, but he was still on the move!

Has it really been that long?!

I'm 18 days late on pouting about how fast my baby is growing up. Sometime between 11:59 p.m. on June 30 and 12:00 a.m. on July 1, a half of a year had passed by since bringing my pride and joy into the world! I was reminded of this today when I got a package in the mail containing Evan's 6-month photos. I know all of the moms reading this completely understand how time passes without your knowledge. Nick and I were looking at my pregnancy journal last night and talking about how at this time last year we were still trying to put a definition on the word 'parent'.  It's strange how much a baby can change your life, and for the better if you actually embrace it. I love that little guy with my whole heart and I know that I can speak for Nick when I say that he does too.

Blah, blah, blah. Onto the pictures...

If you haven't seen these already, here are pictures from Evan's 6-month session with

P.S. I'm sick of this heat.
Happy Monday!

Stand up and shout!

Nick had to work early this morning so Evan stayed home with me a little longer. We can't contain him in his bumbo anymore as he has figured out how to get out of it. So I just let him play on the floor in his room where I can see him from the bathroom. He has a huge fascination with his bouncer (unless you put him in it) and loves to sit by it any play with the toys that are dangling down. He was on the opposite side of the room from his bouncer to start, but somehow managed to scoot himself over to his bouncer and pull himself up to a standing position. He stayed this way for several minutes. It's strange to watch him do these things because he's so small! He's into everything already, I can't imagine when he ACTUALLY becomes mobile. I think we're in trouble!

It's so much fun to watch him grow..... but it's all happening so quickly!

I'm not sure where I heard this, but it makes me laugh:
"We spend the first few years of our child's life teaching them to walk and talk,
but spend the rest of their childhood years telling them to sit down and shut up."

It's Contagious!

I was feeding Evan his dinner a little bit ago and he was being so silly.
I thought for sure I was going to end up with his oatmeal and peas all over my face!!!
 I couldn't stop laughing!

A laid back weekend.

After a hectic 5 days off last weekend, I was ready for a calm weekend! Evan is FINALLY back to normal from his ear infection, which means we are all getting more sleep!

Nick and I dropped Evan off at my mom and dad's on Friday night and went to see Horrible Bosses. We thought it was really funny and would definitely recommend you see it! I have never seen Jennifer Aniston play a role like this, and I must say... it was funny!!! She finally made it out of her "FRIENDS" role, and into something more entertaining. Dale is probably my favorite character, his squeaky voice gets me every time!

Dale and his Maneater boss
On Saturday Nick and I made a trip to Cabelas and then to Bill's Gun Range. It was a great day, but we did miss our little buddy. We don't leave him very often, so it's hard when we do. In the late afternoon we picked up Evan and my mom and headed to Riverfest in Anoka. There was SO much to look at and I even picked up something for a friend who is due in October. I'm so excited she's having a girl since I don't get to buy anything pink or purple!  :)  We didn't stay long because the sun decided to peek out finally and it was WAY too hot.

For the last few weeks Evan has been able to stay sitting on his own for long periods of time. And he loves whatever name you want to give this toy:

Nick left for Texas this afternoon so we took it easy today. Evan and I were in our pajamas by 5 p.m. and he has even had a pre-bedtime nap.
It's going to be an early one for the two of us.

Nick's plane hasn't even landed in Houston yet and I'm counting down the hours until his return!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  :)

Red, White and Blue

Since we live so close to Sand Creek Park (there is a carnival and fireworks here every year) we don't have to go anywhere during the Fourth of July festivities. Evan still wasn't feeling that great this weekend, but he participated in everything.

He sat patiently for Nick to prove his skillz and win him a bear at the carnival games.

He watched the skate competition with Nick.
This was not very exciting, so Evan and I went home shortly after it started!

We quickly learned that Evan doesn't have the patience for bingo,
but we stayed long enough for me to win a game!

There is a playground in Sand Creek and Evan got to visit for the first time. He seemed to like everything, except for a pesky little boy who wouldn't leave me alone! Then we sat in the shade under a tree for a little bit. Evan loves how the grass feels and it keeps him entertained.

We had a much needed nap after all of that!

On Sunday we headed to Nick's parents' house for a BBQ for Nick's mom's birthday. The Berndt boys had to show a few tricks and have a firework challenge. It was entertaining to say the least!

We had an early morning bath on the Fourth of July and Evan really got into it!
I'm glad that he likes the water so much, no one likes a dirty baby!

We didn't have a big party this year since Nick and I both had to work today,
so our little family got to hang out for most of the day.

My mom and dad came over early to bring us a new bug tent and a new swing for Evan.  :)

We finished the night with fireworks.   :)

Happy Birthday, America!
